Exciting news and a new dress to celebrate

Ooh what an interesting title I hear you all gasp. How mysterious. I do in fact have some extremely good news that I received about three weeks ago and have only just got round to blogging about it. Silly old me thought that I'd have time over the Easter holidays, what with it being a holiday and all, but been super busy instead. I now only have four weeks left of school EVER so it's now a bit of a rush getting all work finished.

Anyway, on to the news. Anyone else in their last year of sixth form / college will know how tense it is awaiting uni replies and offers. I had applied to three universities to do an art foundation year, my 'back up' choice gave me an offer which was great. I had also applied to Kingston and Central Saint Martins, thinking there's no way I'd get into CSM but I loved it there and it wouldn't hurt to try. I was sure I'd go to Kingston, it's where my friends, teachers and I all thought I'd go, but after a not-so-great interview I was rejected. I was really upset and more disappointed in myself, feeling I'd let myself down and that my artwork wasn't good enough.

What I really didn't expect was to receive an email from CSM saying I'd been accepted, I was with my friends at the time and we were screaming and laughing and celebrating! I honestly didn't believe I'd get in and accepted the offer straight away. I'm now so excited for my future, and it means I'll be living in London next year!

This leads me to the outfit; a few months ago I spotted some bloggers wearing this dress from AX Paris, and I really wanted to buy it because I loved the crazy pattern and bright colours, but I felt like I needed a reason to get it. I promised myself that if I got into CSM I'd get the dress too, as a treat. I picked out the red colour an teamed it up with a red cardi and a Crown & Glory headband. The necklace is from Delilah Dust, I also bought a silver and turquoise necklace at the same time. The skirt is pretty short but not too revealing for my shortness and the fabric is quite...strong? As in it's not floaty and unlikely to drift up in the wind.

Blogging may be a bit slow for the next few weeks, but I'll be finishing school for good soon and lucky for me my exams finish quite early, and then I'll be a free elf!
Enjoy the sunshine!

Ways To Wear: Blue H&M Dress #2

For my second look, I decided to go really girly which works really well with the lightweight, floaty fabric of the dress. The peter pan collar is actually a top underneath, I just pulled the collar over, pretty handy huh? I feel like this dress needs a belt as it's not too fitted around the waist, so I used this cute woven plait belt, it's great in the summer. And what outfit wouldn't be complete without a Crown & Glory headpiece? I bought this one a while ago, and it's perfect for adding a pretty, girly touch to any outfit. I simply love wearing any sort of flowers in my hair!

Outfit Post: A Dozen Red Roses

I have decided to do a Valentines themed outfit post, and planning some more to come. This outfit features a lovely studded blouse I bought from Ever Ours, I first spotted it on Alice Boullin's blog and as it was in the sale I simply couldn't resist! I like the studded detail on the collar and the lightweight material. I'm also wearing my Crown & Glory rose crown, it's the latest addition to my ever-growing collection of Crown & Glory accessories, I love the vibrant red and how it matches my lipstick and belt. The collar clips I made myself with a pair of earrings and a chain from a broken necklace. I also wanted to show you the rings I bought from Ever Ours (as well as the shirt), a cute little camera ring and an even cuter mousey ring!

A little life update now, I had my interview last Wednesday at UCA Epsom and got an offer! It's so relieving to know that I have somewhere to go next year, and I'm now starting to get really excited about it all. On Friday I spent some quality time with my two best friends, it seems like forever since the last time we met up and had a good giggle. We chatted for hours, looked through photos from the past and messed around on Photobooth, we had the best time and I haven't laughed that much in a long time. On Saturday I went to see Warm Bodies in the cinema, it's really my kind of film! The music was great and I got so excited when a Bon Iver song started playing. Also, Nicholas Hoult as a zombie?! WOW! Just please go an watch it.

January Wish List

1. Ombre tights in Coal from BZR - this is a great idea and make an outfit a little bit more interesting
2. Crystal Bullet Necklace from Tentative Decisions - may need to save my pennies but these are gorgeous!
3. Annarack Feather Necklace from Delilah Dust - I love Annarack's illustrations and jewellery
4. Collar clips from Ladybird Likes - perfect for Valentines Day
5. Whole Lotta Rosie Headband in wine from Crown and Glory - forever fuelling my Crown and Glory obsession
6. Burgundy Cat Ears Watch from Chelsea Doll - perfect for a cat lover like me
7. Lionheart Magazine - buy all three for £10
8. Marie Bobby Pin Trio from Crown and Glory - I love the colours and will look great in a messy updo
9. Arrow ring from Applelatte - can't decide gold or silver, but they're so beautiful and delicate
10. Becky Love Heart dress from Mod Dolly - had my eye on this for ages, layer over a blouse with the heart collar clips
11. Scallop Mint Satchel from ASOS - fell in love with this bag after seeing it on Scathingly Brilliant's blog

I should probably rename this post to "What I'd buy if I won the lottery", because there's no way I can afford all these lovely things, however I've already bought the two Crown and Glory items! The Mod Dolly dress would make the perfect valentines day outfit layered over a collared white blouse and the heart collar clips match the little heart buttons, with the red floral headband from Crown and Glory to complete the outfit. I am very tempted to buy one or two more of the items on this list, so watch this space to see if I cave in.

Christmas 2012

Merry Christmas 2012!
My Christmas day started at 7:00am when my excited youngest sister crept in to my room with a torch. We unwrapped our stockings and had a lovely breakfast of scrambled egg on toast with bucks fizz. It was surprising to have heavy rain and thunder at Christmas (yes I had to mention the weather) and we're still waiting for the snow, forever dreaming of a white Christmas. The lunch was incredible, thanks Mum, and the table has never looked so grand in the red and gold theme for this year. Our tree was covered in gold baubles and tiny red wooden figures which looked adorable and the twinkling lights were so magical when lit up! Not much else to say really, it was a very relaxed day, and we enjoyed the Christmas specials and movies on TV, and ended the day with full bellies and watching the box set of An Idiot Abroad which I bought for Dad. Oh, and I am delighted with my presents this year, I'll do a separate post on those though, what a treat!

I took way too many photos this year, but I tend to forget the littles details of Christmas too easily if I don't take any photos, and most of them are of my cats. Normal. I also managed to take some photos of my Christmas outfit but I got my 9 year old sister to take them so they are a little blurry. I need to train her to be my outfit photographer haha! Anyway, the rest of the photos were taking by me, and I tried to reduce them down, but there's still plenty the enjoy.

100 Followers/Christmas Giveaway! (Closed)

A few weeks ago, my little blog reached 100 followers on GFC, I couldn't believe how far my blog has come in such a short amount of time, and it was amazing to think that out there were 100 people who actually enjoy my blog enough to follow it. It's also very exciting to think that all this has happened within 5 months, just think what'll happen after a year! And so to say thank you I have organised a small giveaway of lovely little goodies in time for Christmas. I thought I'd give away prizes that I would like to win myself, and I actually bought myself the same Crown and Glory bow, another Models Own nail varnish and a selection of Yankee Candle products - I think I'm getting obsessed!

This giveaway is for UK bloggers only (sorry but I don't have much money left, involved in too many Secret Santas) and will end on the 14th of December. The winner will be picked at random contacted by email within 48 hours and announced on my blog.

Good Luck!
